DOULA SERVICES
Each labor is unique and holds many unknowns for expectant mothers. Women naturally seek support as they move toward their due date. Doulas are dedicated to the mother as they experience pregnancy and birth.
As a doula, I provide emotional support, physical support and offer helpful suggestions to assist the woman and her partner as they welcome this birth together.
Pregnancy
- Interview: If you are seeking a doula, contact me to arrange in-person interview. Selecting a doula is very personal and I wish to honor your desire to obtain the kind of support that you desire.
- If you choose my services, I will reserve your due date on my calendar and will be on call 24 hours a day for the two weeks prior. Together, we will sign a letter of agreement outlining my services.
- Included in my services are two prenatal visits where we will get to know each other and discuss your needs and desires, your fears and concerns, and determine how the best way I can support you during labor. In addition, we will develop a postpartum plan to help with the adjustment after the birth.
Labor and Birth
- Once you determine that you are ‘in labor’, I will provide support either at your home or place of birth, according to your preference and the progress of labor.
- During labor, I support you physically and emotionally. I do not provide medical care, but rather an attentive presence to validate your experience and encourage you to uncover the way through your birth.
- I am a guardian of the birth space, allowing you the ease of mind to engage in the birth process
- I do NOT replace your partner in any way. If anything, the partner is brought even more into the birthing process, offering his or her own support to you knowing that they too are supported as they become parents.
- I provide continued support after the birth for one or two hours to help you with your immediate physical needs and to answer any questions you might have. Once you are comfortable, I will leave to allow you to enjoy the new addition to your family.
Postpartum
- In the days following the birth, you are welcome to call or email me for help.
- I will arrange a visit between one and three weeks after the birth. This is a time for you! After a baby is born, a mother may suddenly feel like the attention has shifted to the baby. I seek to honor your birth as a mother. This time is an opportunity for you to share your birth story or anything you want and be heard.
Fees
At this time, I offer three rates for my services ranging from $500 to $1000, depending on your financial need. Call to schedule an interview at 321.441.6969.
